East Kimberley Designated Area Migration Agreement

Local business can apply individually to access the DAMA from 1 April 2022

As per the Joint media release with the Hon. Melissa Price MP Published on 31 March 2022

  • East Kimberley businesses will have access to additional workers across more than 100 occupations following the signing of the East Kimberley Designated Area Migration Agreement (DAMA).
  • The East Kimberley DAMA includes a large number of occupations which are not available under the standard visa programs
  • EKCCI will administer the process of accessing the East Kimberley DAMA which will be open to businesses operating in the Local Government Area of the Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley.
  • Local business can apply individually to access the DAMA from 1 April 2022.

Townsville Designated Area Migration Agreement

Local businesses can apply individually to access the DAMA from 1 July 2022

As per the Joint media release with the Hon Phillip Thompson OAM MP published on 01 April 2022

  • Townsville will benefit from access to more skilled workers following the signing of the landmark Townsville Designated Area Migration Agreement (DAMA).
  • The Townsville DAMA covers 195 occupations across a broad range of sectors including manufacturing, health care and social assistance, transport, and professional, scientific and technical services.
  • Townsville Enterprise will administer the process of accessing the Townsville DAMA which will open to businesses operating in any of the 9 Local Government Areas covered by the agreement – City of Townsville, Hinchinbrook Shire, Charters Towers Regional Council, Burdekin Shire, City of Mount Isa, Shire of Cloncurry, Shire of McKinlay, Shire of Richmond and Shire of Flinders.
  • Local businesses can apply individually to access the DAMA from 1 July 2022.

Work and Holiday visa update

Media Release on 31 March 2022

As per the Media Release Published by The Hon Alex Hawke MP Minister for Immigration, Citizenship, Migrant Services and Multicultural Aff airs on 31 March 2022, 

Summary of Changes in Work and Holiday Visa 

  • A 30 per cent cap increase to the number of places available to nationals from countries with which Australia has a capped Work and Holiday (subclass 462) visa arrangement in 202223 only.
  • Commencing on 1 July 2022:
    • Brazil  new arrangement with 500 places
    • Mongolia  new arrangement with 100 places
    • Slovak Republic  cap increase from 200 to 1000 places
    • Hungary and Austria  cap increase from 200 to 500 places
    • Italy and Denmark  age increase from 30 to 35 years.

New Pilbara Designated Area Migration Agreement

Local businesses can apply individually to access the DAMA from 9 May 2022!

As per the Joint media release with the Hon. Melissa Price MP published on 31 March 2022

  • The city of Karratha and town of Port Hedland are the latest areas to benefit from the introduction of a Designated Area Migration Agreement (DAMA) with the signing of the new Pilbara DAMA
  • The Pilbara DAMA covers 66 occupations which include engineers and trades to support resource industries, as well as key service occupations like aged and child care and health services
  • Local businesses can apply individually to access the DAMA from 9 May 2022.

New Work and Holiday Maker arrangement with Mongolia

Media Release Published on 31 March 2022!

As per the Media release published on 31 March 2022 by The Hon Alex Hawke MP Minister for Immigration, Citizenship, Migrant Services and Multicultural Aff airs

A new Work and Holiday Maker (WHM) arrangement will allow up to 100 young Mongolians and 100 young Australians each year to enjoy a 12-month holiday in each others country, during which they may undertake short-term work and study.

Businesses in the Orana region now have access to overseas workers across 65 occupations!

  • Businesses in the Orana region now have access to overseas workers across 65 occupations 
  • The Australian Government aims to address businesses needs with the inclusion of a range of occupations including automotive trades, teachers, aged care and additional health professionals

Australia opens Work and Holiday program to Brazil

Commencing on 1 July 2022!

As per the Media release of The Hon Alex Hawke MP Minister for Immigration, Citizenship, Migrant Services and Multicultural Aff airs

  • Young people from Brazil will be able to work, study and holiday in Australia under a new memorandum of understanding for a reciprocal Work and Holiday (subclass 462) visa arrangement signed on 31 March 2022 
  • Commencing on 1 July 2022, the arrangement will allow up to 500 young Brazilians aged between 18 and 30 to stay in Australia each year, for a 12-month holiday during which they can undertake short-term work and study.
