Queensland-s 2023-24 Nomination Quota- Updates and Impact

Focus on High-Skilled Migration Amidst Reduced Allocations

The Queensland government has received updated nomination quotas from the Department of Home Affairs for the 2023-24 program year with a total allocation of 1,550 skilled visa nominations, Queensland is faced with a significant decrease from its initial request. This year’s selection criteria will prioritize attracting highly skilled migrants to the state, and adjustments are being considered regarding the program’s opening timeline.

Key Details:

– Subclass 190 allocation: 900

– Subclass 491 allocation: 650

– Business Innovation and Investment Program (BIIP) allocation: 0

The Department of Home Affairs has clarified that reduced quotas result from utilizing the existing pipeline of state-nominated visa applications to meet program year planning levels. Additionally, it has been confirmed that there will be no BIIP nomination allocation across all jurisdictions for the 2023-24 period. While BIIP options are limited, the Global Talent visa with a planning level of 5000 remains open for prospective business clients.
