Increase In Skilled Visa Income Thresholds

Effective 1 July 2025, there will be an increase in skilled visa income thresholds, in line with a 4.6% adjustment to the Average Weekly Ordinary Time Earnings (AWOTE). These changes are designed to ensure that wages offered to skilled visa holders remain consistent with those of the Australian workforce and to prevent wage undercutting.

Key updates to be aware of:

  • Core Skills Income Threshold (CSIT): Increasing from AUD 73,150 to AUD 76,515. This applies to the Skills in Demand (subclass 482) visa and the Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186).
  • Specialist Skills Income Threshold (SSIT): Increasing from AUD 135,000 to AUD 141,210, relevant to the Specialist Skills stream of the Skills in Demand (subclass 482) visa.
  • Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT): Increasing from AUD 73,150 to AUD 76,515, impacting both the Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (subclass 494) visa and the Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (subclass 187).

Please note that any new nomination applications lodged on or after 1 July 2025 must meet the new income thresholds or the Annual Market Salary Rate (AMSR) – whichever is higher.

These changes will not apply to existing visa holders or to nominations lodged prior to 1 July 2025.
