Tasmania’s 2023-24 Visa Allocation Update – Changes and Details

Allocation Breakdown and Program Adjustments

Tasmania’s visa allocation for the state and territory nominated categories for the 2023-24 program year has been announced by the Australian Government. The allocations include:

  • Skilled Nominated (subclass 190) visa: 600 places
  • Skilled Work Regional (subclass 491) visa: 600 places

Key Points:

No BIIP Allocations: The Business Innovation and Investment Program (BIIP) will not have new nomination allocations for any jurisdiction in the 2023-24 program year.

Program Open: The 2023/24 Skilled Migration State Nomination Program is now open for new Registrations of Interest and nomination applications. Updated eligibility requirements, policy guidance, and service fees apply.

Program Changes: Minor adjustments have been made to the program for the new year, including broader eligibility for subclass 190 nomination, an updated Tasmanian Onshore Skilled Occupation List, changes to certain requirements, and more detailed policy guidance.

Fees and Charges: The service fee to apply for nomination has increased to $330 (including GST). There is no charge for submitting a Registration of Interest.

Transition Rules: Applications and Registrations of Interest submitted before specific dates are subject to previous eligibility requirements and settings. New requirements apply to submissions from July 5, 2023.
