This innovative pathway will replace the Australia Global Talent Independent (GTI) program, which is set to close at the end of the year.

The eligibility criteria and application process for the NIV are similar to those of the GTI program and include:

  • Submitting an Expression of Interest (EOI) and receiving an invitation to apply for the NIV.
  • Being nominated by an Australian individual or organization operating in the same field as the applicant.
  • Demonstrating an internationally recognized record of exceptional and outstanding achievement and being an asset to the Australian community.
  • Showing the ability to establish yourself in Australia successfully.
  • Being any age, although those under 18 or over 55 must demonstrate exceptional benefit to the Australian community.

The NIV provides a direct pathway to permanent residence for exceptional talent, including:

  • Highly skilled academics and global researchers.
  • Innovative investors and entrepreneurs.
  • World-renowned athletes, artists, entertainers, and other creative professionals.
