Streamlined Visa Pathways and Expanded Opportunities for Skilled Migrants

NSW Priority Sectors:

The program is focused on sectors with chronic skill shortages and structural transformations, including:

  • Construction (infrastructure and housing)
  • Renewables (net zero and clean energy)
  • Care Economy (aged care, disability services, early childhood care)
  • Digital and Cyber (across industries)
  • Education (teachers)
  • Agriculture and Agrifood
  • Advanced Manufacturing

Skills Lists:

Skills lists for the Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) and the Skilled Work Regional visa (subclass 491) have been published at the ANZSCO unit group level. Confirm eligibility before pursuing a skills assessment.

Invitation Rounds (Subclass 190):

Regular invitation rounds will soon begin for the subclass 190 visa. Ensure your SkillSelect EOI is up-to-date with valid evidence.

491 Visa Pathways:

  • Pathway 1 and Pathway 3 for the subclass 491 visa will open soon.
  • A new Regional NSW Graduate Pathway is available for recent graduates from regional NSW institutions under Pathway 3.

TSMIT Concession (Pathway 1 – Subclass 491):

Applicants in select occupations may benefit from a 10% reduction on the Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT).

Skilled Employment Criteria:

NSW now aligns with Home Affairs’ definition of skilled employment, simplifying eligibility for EOI submissions.

Application Fee:

The application fee is now A$315 (plus GST if applying from Australia).
